Single Tooth Implant

For people who are missing one or more teeth, Single-tooth implants are ideal. The dentist makes an opening in the jaw bone and the implant is surgically placed in the opening. The implant eventually fuses to the bone, and acts as a new root for the crown that will be replacing the missing tooth. The crown, or generally called cap is made to look like your natural tooth and is attached to the implant and fills the space left by the missing tooth. For the success of this procedure, there must be enough bone in the jaw, and the bone needs to be strong enough to hold and support the implant. If the bone is not enough, a procedure called ‘bone augmentation’ may be required. Also, the neighboring teeth and supporting tissues near the implant must be in good health for the total success of implants.
